Carpooling:
Go Green!! Do you need a ride
to and from the airport? Are you renting a car and willing
to share the ride? We now have a carpooling blog! We don't
guarantee your ride, but you can post on our blog to find
other diatomers that could give you a lift. The travel details
are up to you. Please remember to provide: Name, Contact
Info (phone/email), location of pick-up, arrival and departure
dates, whether you need a ride or you're willing to share,

Air Travel:
Missoula: ALERT!! Missoula International Airport (MSO) will be out of service the 13th and
14th of September (reopening for incoming flights after 9pm on the 14th).
If you have already booked your travel be sure to check your reservation for
schedule changes. Missoula International Airport (MSO) is about 70
miles south of Polson. Delta Airlines, Alaska Airlines,
and Allegiant Air. This airport has rental car services
and limited shuttle services to Flathead Lake.
Kalispell: Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) is about 50 miles north of Polson. It is served by Delta Airlines, Alaska Airlines, United Airlines and Allegiant Air. The airport has rental car services.
Spokane: Spokane International Airport (GEG) is about 200 miles west of Polson. This airport is a major hub and is served by a number of airlines and rental car services.
Additional Airports: Helena (HLN) and Great Falls (GTF) airports are also about 200 miles east of Polson.

Train Travel:
Amtrak: The
closest station is Whitefish, MT (0.75 hr drive). Limited shuttle
service to the field station will be provided.
Auto Travel:
From South (Missoula or Polson): From I-90, take exit 96 North
to Hwy 93 for 60 miles to Polson. At the light just after
Safeway, turn right onto MT Hwy 35 for 18 miles. Field station
will be on the lake side of the road, just past the turn
for Yellow Bay State Park.
From North via US 93 (Kalispell or Somers): From Kalispell head south on Hwy 93 for 8 miles. At the light, turn left onto MT Hwy 82 for 7 miles. At the light turn right onto MT Hwy 35. Head through Bigfork for 15 miles. Field station will be on the lake side of the road, just past the turn for Yellow Bay State Park.
From the North via US 2 (Airport or Glacier National Park): From the airport, head south on Hwy 2 for 7 miles. Turn left at the intersection with Hwy 35. Follow Hwy 35 south 33 miles. Field station will be on the lake side of the road, just past the turn for Yellow Bay State Park.
